In my last blog I spoke about the correlation between getting
financially rich and spiritually rich and the compounding effect some practices can have on our lives.
If you haven’t read it, read it here before you proceed.
I mentioned in that post that there are some practices, when done regularly, like compound interest is for investing, snowball and help us win the spiritual lottery and help immensely on the path of spiritual growth. Warren Buffet was able to compound majority of his wealth after retirement. Can you imagine how much the world and him would have lost had he decided to stop investing and give up at the age of 50 ?? Moral of the story - Consistency!!

I have split these into “Doing” practices and “Being” states. Both these
aspects are important in life.
However what we forget to focus
on is what we need to “BE” while we are doing what we need to “DO”. After all we are called Human BEINGS for a reason!!
You can complete the 5 meetings and the 10 calls you have scheduled for
the day. But are you “BEING” centred and effective while you are DOING those meetings?
You can quit your job and spend the whole day with your kids, DO a lot
of activities with them, but are you BEING happy and content doing that, or are
you feeling like a martyr who has sacrificed her own dreams for the sake
of her children and is BEING unhappy, resentful and frustrated ??
To focus on BEING something, is also one of the key ways to create
lasting change in your life.
In the doing way – you would say “I
haven’t smoked a cigarette in 30 days, 5 hours and 2 minutes.”
You know the change will last when you say = “I am a non-smoker”.
When you identify yourself with the “label” as a way of being, the change you are trying to make, usually lasts.

So here are the Doing and Being practices :

Doing practices
1. Having a daily practice of gratitude, meditation or
mindfulness
2.
Incorporating some sort of physical exercise into your day -
specially Yoga
3.
Eating healthy nutritious food
4.
Spending time with nature
5.
Spending more time with the trees and mountains and lesser time
in malls when you travel
6.
Walking barefoot on the beach or garden – connecting with the
earth energy
7.
Reading/watching inspiring books and videos
8.
Meeting/Being with people who inspire and uplift you
9.
Doing something out of your comfort zone - constantly.
10.
Physically De-cluttering a corner of your house or workspace
11.
Emotional De-cluttering - Consciously forgiving someone everyday
–very powerful, highly recommended
12.
Singing /Dancing/Chanting/laughing (all highly energising
activities)
13.
Social service or random acts of kindness. Working for a cause
bigger than yourself.
14.
Avoiding situations/ people that deplete you of energy
15.
Not accepting invitations to every argument/conflict you are
invited to. Smiling and moving on
16.
Spending some time in deliberate silence
Being states
1) Being self – aware (aware of your
beliefs, values, attitudes)
2) Practising self-Love - saying yes
to yourself
3) Being centred in all situations –
in the present moment.
4) Being intuitive (this also comes
from meditating and being self-aware)
5) Being happy
6) Being grateful
7) Being your authentic self
Try whichever of these or as many of these, as appeal to you and see
yourself inviting more Satori moments in your life.
